2 Month Wellness

This morning Jaxon had his 2 month appointment. I have been dreading this appointment because he had to get his first round of immunizations, 3 shots and an oral medication. First, Dr. Rogers came in and showed us how our "little" man is comparing to other 2 month olds. Jaxon now weighs 13 lbs 5 oz and his length is 25 in. That means he is in the 82nd percentile for weight and the 97th percentile for length. Such a big boy! We have noticed recently that Jax isn't turning his heads towards loud noises, which has us concerned. We shared our concern with Dr. Rogers, he said to keep a close eye on this and to report back to him at our 4 month wellness. If we don't see improvements then he will do a hearing screening. Other than that concern Dr. Rogers says all is looking great.
Now for the shots. Two nurses came in to administer the immunizations. The first nurse gave Jaxon a liquid which he did not like at all. He choked and gagged for what seemed like eternity. This of course had Wes and I worried. Eventually, however, Jax calmed down and the nurse gave him the remainder of the liquid. He did much better taking the second half. The shots weren't nearly as traumatic for me as I thought they would be. They did 2 shots at the same time, one in each leg, and then quickly administered the third shot. Jaxon gave a couple good yelps, but calmed down quickly after being held and offered his pacifier. I think giving him a little Tylenol prior to the appointment helped a bit. Jaxon doesn't go to the Dr. again until he is 4 months. I cannot believe how fast time flies when you are having so much fun.

Janelle, I don't know if you remember or not, but I thought Liam had a hearing problem too for a long time. I did the claping behind him to get him to turn his head and everything else you can think of. It turned out he was just really into whatever he was doing and could tune us out easily, which is still the case. Sometimes I have to touch him to get him to pay attention and then he's like, "mom I'm busy. I don't have time to talk." I also went through a phase where I thought he was color blind and also dyslexic (sp?). All turned out not to be the case.
