This year I decided to do a little baking for the holidays. If you know much about me, you know that I hate to cook, but LOVE to bake. I have made 3 batches of Diane Cronin's Cornflake Bars and about 100 chocolate covered pretzels. I have made the bars before and they are always a hit. I took a batch to my annual girls christmas party, a batch was added to a goodie exchange at school, and a batch went to snack day at school. (I didn't want you thinking Wes and I ate them by ourselves!)
The chocolate covered pretzels were a new experience. For one I have never used a double boiler before...pretty simple, not sure why I was scared of it in the past. Other than being a pain in the rear to dip 100 preztels, they were fun. Wes did help with the pretzels, he dipped about 10 then decided he would rather freeze and pack away the treats than be the "dipper." We had a good time and gave ourselves incentive to finish in a timely manner. Once all was cleaned up and packed away, we treated ourselves to an evening in the hot tub. It was great!

A few weeks later I baked a family tradition, German Christmas Cookies. The recipe for these cookies has been passed down to the Cronin women for years. These are by far my favorite Christmas cookies.
