The EVERYONE MUST RIDE era has sadly come to an end. Many, many years ago I (Janelle) became the owner of a brand new, shiny, '86 Honda Accord, hatchback. Okay, so it wasn't so "shiny and new" it was more rusty and used, but I loved that car with it's pop-up headlights. When it came time to license the new ride, Dad went to the DMV. He returned with 3 licence plates...629 EMR, 630 EMR, and 631 EMR. The EMR's had become a part of our lives. Mike owned one of the EMR's, Dad owned another, and me the last. In order for us to remember our license numbers, we came up with a mnemonic device. E-everyone M-must R-ride. It would have seemed at times, to outsiders, that we had formed a club. We became...okay, I became excited any time another EMR (pronounced "eemer") would drive by. Slowly, over time, the EMR's were removed from the various cars. I held on to my EMR the longest I could. This past August, EMR was laid to rest (in my garage). My EMR saw it's way from a Honda, to a Pontiac, to a Mitsubishi, and finally to a Toyota. License plates just won't be the same from here on out. Rest in peace-EMR.
